STATUE OF UNITY
Hi there!
So much proud that the tallest statue in the world is now built in India leaving behind statue of Buddha in China.
But there are other aspects to be taken in consideration before seeing this statue as a mark of pride and honour.
Today will cover all that aspects of this statue.
So, here we go.
COST.
The entire cost of building this statue is around 3000 crore rs, in which the cost of building only the statue is around 1350 crore which is equal to around 180 million dollars.
If we compare this to Buddha statue whose cost is only 18 million dollars.
See the difference.
The difference comes of about 10x money.
HEIGHT.
The height of STATUE of UNITY is 182m and height of Buddha statue in China is 128m.
Not big difference in height but 10x difference in cost.
This isn't quite fair to me.
RETURN OF INVESTMENT.
The most famous monument of India is TAJ MAHAL whose return of investment is about 25 crore rs. only/year.
The STAUE OF UNITY for sure will not become equal to the TAJ in terms of beauty.
The most expensive ticket of Statue of Unity is 350rs. and if we suppose all the visitors take the most expensive ticket and around 1 million people come to see it every year.
Then,
350*1 million = 350million = 35 crores only
It will take around 80+ years to return all the money taken to build the statue.
This also isn't quite fair deal.
POTENTIAL OF TOURISM
Here we will consider about different aspects and discuss it wholly.
1. LOCATION - You notice that every popular momument is built in a famous city like Effiel Tower is built in Paris, that's insanely great. 👏👏
But Statue of Unity is not built in a popular city(VADODARA).
Mumbai is 8 hrs away and Ahemdabad is 4 hrs away
This distance will keep tourist away from the statue.
2. BEAUTY - With no offense to Sardar Patel, the design or colors of the statue are not so attractive. You choose what you will prefer seeing Ajanta & Ellora caves, the famous Mughal architect or just a standing statue.
3. In my opinion, repairing old monuments and starting taking tickets in such monuments where there is no ticket, should been have a better option to return investment.
